Hokuloa has four paddling programs—adult racing, new paddlers, novice, and youth. Each paddling program is designed to train paddlers of all skill levels in all aspects of outrigger canoeing and ocean safety. Coaches lead workouts to improve individual and team paddling performance.
Regular workouts are held three times per week for all men’s, women’s, coed, and novice teams. These workouts are usually held Tuesday/Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm and Saturday at 8:00 from March through September. Weekday sessions last approximately two hours and Saturday workouts average three hours each. The novice coach may establish a separate weekday workout schedule for the novice team. The youth team schedule usually starts in May through August and is set by the youth coach as demand warrants. Fees Annual dues are $390 per adult member, $200 for full-time students and active military, and for youth.
Dues cover club membership, which includes use of six-man, one man, and two-man canoes, paddles, and racing equipment. Dues also cover most racing fees exclusive of sprint and 9-man races.
